Our History

Wesley Mountain Village, a thriving 55+ community, is owned and operated by Wesley Woods Senior Living.

Since its beginning in 1953, Wesley Woods has grown its family of senior living communities throughout North Georgia, including Atlanta, Blairsville, Athens, Augusta and Newnan.

Wesley Mountain Village opened in 1984 and includes the apartments of Branan Lodge and the 60 original independent-living and resident-owned cottages of Simpson Estates. Our new, modern mountain cottages are an addition to Simpson Estates, and all residents have unfettered access to its activities and amenities.

All-Inclusive Wellness

Wesley Woods Senior Living is widely known for its big-picture senior wellness programs.

It’s natural to hear the term “wellness” and assume the conversation is about physical health. Of course, that is true to a point. However, what we consider “wellness” is defined in a much broader way to take the mind, body and spirit into account.

We offer exercise classes to improve strength, flexibility, balance and mobility. Activities range from cultural outings to movie nights, from book clubs to bingo, from non-denominational worship services to sporting events.

The Foundation of Wesley Woods provides vital funding to support Wesley Woods Senior Living’s mission to create communities of connection, well-being and promise. This support is made possible through generous individual donor gifts, grants and endowments.

These gifts enrich the lives of residents through financial assistance for housing and meals; a robust wellness program and Chaplains in each community who provide ministry through counseling, hospital visits, grief support, Bible study and worship.

Are there requirements for living in an independent living cottage at Wesley Mountain Village?

Yes, and they couldn't be simpler. We welcome 55+ active adults.

How many cottages will there be?

96 – a total of four designs offering a mix of single and duplex units.

What is the purchase price of the new cottages?

They start in the lower $300k and range up to the mid/high $400k, based on model type and lot location/desirability.

When will the cottages be available?

Groundbreaking and land clearing are expected to begin Fall 2026. The first phase of cottages projected to be move-in ready Fall 2027.

Are the homes custom built?

No. And yes.

No, because offering a choice of standardized floor plans allows for tighter control of construction costs; faster development time; and, as a result, more affordable home prices.

Yes, because each of the four designs is based on direction and detailed input from older folks in the Blairsville area. So, while not custom, they are created specifically to meet the “needs and wants” that potential residents would include if building their own homes – including accessible layouts and safety-focused design elements.

Can buyers choose finishes, layouts or upgrades?

On a very limited basis. The four plans offer standard interior finishes with kitchen and bath cabinet colors varying between white and wood tone from home to home. No structural changes can be made.

Is this an assisted living or medical community?

No. This is an independent living housing community. However, the next phase of development is being planned to include new assisted living accommodations for 60 elders on the campus.

Will there be community amenities?

Of course. For starters:
